Pass the Transport Canada Drone Pilot Exams
Basic and Advanced Operations. Complete Course, the 2025 Rules Explained, 500 Practice Questions and Flight Review Method
Ebook. Also on other Apple Books and Google Play Books stores.
Preparing for the Transport Canada drone pilot exams? This book explains the rules behind the questions, shows you how to decode weather reports and do the calculations, then lets you practise until the pass mark is within easy reach.
Canada has two online exams: the Basic Operations exam (35 questions, 90 minutes, 65 per cent to pass) and the Advanced Operations exam (50 questions, 60 minutes, 80 per cent to pass). This course covers both, in plain Canadian English, for hobbyists, real estate photographers, roofers, farmers, surveyors, students and newcomers to Canada, and it is built for studying on a phone. It explains the rules in force since 4 November 2025.
What is inside:
- 15 short chapters: the certificates and the exams; drone sizes and categories of operation; the general operating rules of CARs Part IX; procedures, site survey and pre-flight checks; registration, marking, records and penalties; airspace and aerodromes; weather; METAR and TAF decoded; human factors; drone systems, batteries and theory of flight; navigation, charts and time; radio communications; operations near people and in controlled airspace; the 2025 rules on EVLOS, sheltered operations and medium drones; and the flight review
- 8 appendices: 6 full mock exams at the real format (3 Basic of 35 questions and 3 Advanced of 50 questions, 255 questions in all) with answers and explanations, a flight review checklist and planning sheet, and a revision sheet with a code card and a plain-English glossary
- 500 original practice questions in 20 sets of 25 (200 Basic and 300 Advanced), every one with the correct answer and a short explanation
Every rule is tied to its source: the Canadian Aviation Regulations, Transport Canada's official study material and Standard 921. Where a point could not be confirmed, the book says so and tells you to check it with Transport Canada. Fees and other details that change are flagged as such.
All questions are original. This is an independent study guide: it is not affiliated with Transport Canada, NAV CANADA or any government body, it is not endorsed or approved by them, it does not replace the official study material, and it does not contain real exam questions.
Method of creation: this book was written with the help of artificial intelligence tools, under the author's direction; every rule was checked against its source text and every practice question was written for this book.
